Most importantly, jScoop serves as an open venue within which aspiring journalists may interact and grow together.

jScoop’s six sections are packed with useful information and valuable tools. Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • Home to our extensive collection of journalism how-tos and primers, our Tips department lays the foundation for any young journalist’s must-have skills and wherewithal. Tips stories are archived by category, so it’s easy to find the lesson matching your query.
  • Visit the News department for your fix on recent industry reports and happenings. Our editors will scour the Web daily on your behalf and keep you current on the latest must-know issues so you’ll never miss a beat.
  • Our Blogs section e-columnists put you right into the offices of America’s premier media brands. Stay tuned as these go-getting contributors – ranging from college interns to veteran editors – offer personal insights from lessons learned.
  • Amid your college search? The new Schools department houses our extensive and interactive directory of journalism programs across the nation. Here you'll find vital information about each program, along with a discussion forum on each school's page.
  • Find and land your dream gig by means of the Jobs section. Just upload your resume, browse through our exciting compilation of career opportunities, and apply to your favorites for free. Your information goes directly into the recruiter’s inbox.
  • In the Forum, interact with seasoned vets and ambitious peers alike. Impart your thoughts, advice, or ramblings and be sure to utilize jScoop’s exclusive reporting resource boards:

Your Account

Registration with jScoop is completely free, and well worth your while. Once your account is verified (a confirmation will be sent to the email address you provide) you'll have access to certain site elements that would have been restricted otherwise:

  • Upload and manage resumes, which you may use to apply for positions posted by media recruiters inside the Jobs section.
  • Connect with fellow jScoop users by making them Friends (think: contacts), and keep track of your Friends' information all in one place.
  • Exchange private messages with any registered veteran or future journalist, without ever making your email address public.
  • View your favorite Tips, News, and Blogs stories, determined by the ratings you issue while browsing the site.
  • Develop relationships during your visits to the Forum, rather than contributing anonymously and without a means for individual discussion.
