Quicker-than-ever technology has made “citizen journalism” more prevalent among news organizations who can’t be on the scene of every news story that occurs. With major outlets like CNN embracing the trend, the notion that anyone can record the news doesn’t seem to be going away. This week, YouTube launched YouTube Direct, a channel that links video from those everyman reporters directly to news organizations—and some big ones have already signed up.
