The School of Communications at Webster University operates with one goal in mind — to educate and prepare its students to excel as skilled professionals in a global field of communications. To achieve this goal, the school takes a hands-on approach to learning. Students work with professional-grade media equipment as early as their freshman year. Internships connect students with more than 300 employers across the nation. And most students graduate with a professional portfolio in hand.
Sixteen distinct majors with different areas of emphasis are available at the undergraduate level, while the graduate program offers master's degrees in five diverse fields of communications.
Classes can be taken at campuses throughout the United States and around the world. For some students who qualify, airfare to one of the global campus locations is covered by the university.
Webster students have the opportunity to pursue internships. All students who participate in the program work under the supervision of an expert in their chosen field of study, gain relevant entry-level professional experience, complete a minimum of 192 hours for three credit hours toward graduation, receive a final evaluation from an internship supervisor and attend monthly seminars with other interns from the School of Communications. There are no geographic boundaries for internships. They can be paid or unpaid, depending on the organization. They are available in corporate settings, non-profit organizations, educational environments, commercial studios, publications, radio, television and research organizations. The School of Communications every year invites a sampling of these groups and organizations to the St. Louis home campus for an Internship Expo.
